Ms. Paromita Chowdhury

Ms. Paromita Chowdhury is a seasoned development professional with over a decade of experience in managing and implementing impactful programs. From 2012 to 2024, she served as a Programme Officer at the Oak Foundation, where she played a pivotal role in the Joint India Programme. During her tenure, Paromita managed a diverse grant portfolio aimed at promoting equitable opportunities and sustainable development in Jharkhand and West Bengal. Her work focused on improving the lives of unorganised workers, Indigenous communities, and migrants by supporting access to essential services, sustainable agriculture, and education.
Paromita has been the anchor for the Udyamini rural women entrepreneurship program. Her deep involvement in the proposal design along with the partners and her unwavering commitment were instrumental in the realization of this ambitious four-year initiative to empower and influence the women entrepreneurship ecosystem.
Prior to her role at Oak Foundation, Paromita worked with CARE India and Oxfam Great Britain/India, where she championed issues related to reproductive rights, economic justice, and gender equality. She holds a postgraduate degree in rural management from Xavier Institute of Social Services, Ranchi, and a postgraduate diploma in human resources management from Symbiosis, Pune. Additionally, she is a Packard Fellow on population and reproductive health.
Paromita’s dedication to community-led development and her strategic approach to philanthropy have made significant contributions to the field. Her efforts have been instrumental in driving positive change and empowering communities to craft their own solutions.
