Dipali Barman, a 36-year-old woman from Dueli village, has always been passionate about livestock rearing. As a breadwinner of her family, along with her husband, she faced numerous challenges in providing for her family. Despite these challenges, Dipali worked hard to care for her livestock, which was the main source of income for her family. However, she struggled with high mortality rates and disease prevalence among her livestock.

Dipali’s life took a turn for the better when she joined The Goat Trust’s (TGT) Udyamini program. She was nominated and selected as a Livestock Business Counselor (LBC) in her village. After receiving training from TGT, Dipali started practicing her newfound skills, creating products like Dana Mishran, Neem oil, and milk replacer. She also conducted meetings with community members, raising awareness about the importance of adopting scientific methods for goat rearing. With her newfound knowledge, Dipali was able to provide better care for her livestock, reducing mortality rates and disease prevalence.
Dipali’s involvement with TGT has had a profound impact on her life and the lives of those in her community. Her products are in high demand, and she has received positive feedback from customers. Dipali’s business has provided her with a stable income, enabling her to support her family’s needs and create a revolving fund. The training she received from TGT has also benefited her community, as people have started adopting scientific methods for goat rearing, reducing mortality rates and disease prevalence. Dipali is grateful to TGT for helping her overcome financial constraints and is now a role model for women in her village, inspiring them to take up livestock entrepreneurship. Her success has also motivated other women in the community to participate in the Udyamini program, promoting women’s empowerment and entrepreneurship in the region.
