Her journey with The Goat Trust (TGT) transformed her life as she was chosen as Livestock Business Counselor (LBC) for her village under Udyamini program, empowering her to overcome obstacles and persist in her entrepreneurial ambitions. With a strong passion for livestock management and business, Sahiton’s story serves as an inspiration to women in rural communities.

Initially, Sahiton encountered resistance from community members, hindering data collection and progress. However, after receiving training and support from TGT, Sahiton’s confidence grew. She conducted awareness meetings, health camps, and video shows, gradually winning over the community. As people began to embrace her work, Sahiton started receiving calls for advice and treatment, and her input product sales increased, boosting her income. Moreover, Sahiton’s newfound knowledge and expertise also benefited her family’s chicken business, which was initially struggling to gain momentum. Her father and husband, who were also involved in the business, sought her guidance and advice, which helped them to revamp their strategy and boost their sales. “I never thought I’d be the one guiding my father and husband in business,” Sahiton says with a smile. “But now, they rely on me for advice, and it’s amazing to see our business grow together.”
Sahiton’s life transformed after working with TGT. Economically, she generated additional income, surpassing her previous earnings. Socially, she became a respected community leader and first aid provider for livestock. Sahiton adopted improved livestock management practices, minimizing losses and increasing productivity. Her family is proud of her achievements, as she has become a recognized person in the village and a role model for the community. In a society where women are often given limited opportunities to work outside their homes, Sahiton’s success has shown that women can be powerful agents of change and contributors to their families’ economic well-being. “I’m proud to be an example for other women in my community,” Sahiton says. “I want to show them that they too can be entrepreneurs, leaders, and change-makers.” TGT’s intervention has not only empowered Sahiton but also contributed to her family’s prosperity and the community’s development.
